HMS Music Lessons

Crofton Hammond Junior School is pleased to be working with Hampshire Music Service to offer pupils the exciting opportunity to learn a musical instrument.

By attending weekly lessons, your child will develop the skills to play an instrument while also enhancing their musical understanding. Learning an instrument brings many wider benefits, including improved memory, creativity, focus, and physical coordination—skills that support all areas of school life.

Lessons will take place during the school day and be delivered by specialist tutors. Please note that choosing to learn an instrument requires a commitment of at least one full academic year, alongside regular practice at home. Daily practice is often necessary to make good progress, and a positive attitude and perseverance are essential.

The cost of lessons will range from £167.38 to £669.50 per year, depending on the number of pupils enrolled. This is based on approximately 30 lessons per academic year. Please note that refunds are not available for missed lessons, except in cases of extended illness, which will be considered at the discretion of the Head Teacher.

In addition to lesson fees, parents may need to purchase or hire an appropriate instrument for use in school and for home practice. Hampshire Music Service tutors will be able to advise on suitable options.

At school we currently have lessons for the following instruments:

Instrument Teacher Day
Keyboard Ruth Rogers Monday
Brass Jim Potter Tuesday
Woodwind Samuel Ottley Tuesday
Guitar Martin McBeath Wednesday
Keyboard Ruth Rogers Thursday
Violin Anna Pring Friday

Sign up for lessons usually takes place in May and children start lessons in September.
